Championship Game – WVU vs KU
Las Vegas, Nevada – West Virginia University’s men’s basketball team will play in the Championship Game of the Las Vegas Invitational Saturday night in Nevada.
Tipoff is set for 10:30 p.m. EST.
The Mountaineers advanced to the title game against Kentucky with an 87 to 68 win over Iowa Friday night in Las Vegas.
“We played pretty hard most of the game and I think, at the end, our rebounding kept the spread for us because we weren’t making any shots,” Mountaineer Head Basketball Coach Bob Huggins said after the game.
WVU started out early with a 20-0 run against Iowa and had the lead at halftime. Fouls, missed free throws and turnovers, though, were problems in the second half.
“It’s a good win,” Huggins said. “We’ve just got to keep getting better.”
Kentucky beat Kansas State 74 to 72 to advance. The Kentucky team includes former West Virginia high school basketball standout Patrick Patterson.
Saturday night’s game will be shown on ESPN2.
