Mountaineers Pound the Pirates
Newark, New Jersey- The Mountaineers won their Big East Conference opener in dominating fashion as they handed Seton Hall it’s second consecutive blowout loss in league play.
Following a 24 point loss at Syracuse earlier in the week, the Pirates had the Mountaineers in town for their conference home opener, but West Virginia would control the game most of the way. After West Virginia led by nine points at the break, Seton Hall would close to within six in the opening minutes of the second half. But Da’Sean Butler–in his return to his hometown–started a Mountaineer flurry with a 16-foot jump shot from left of the basket. That mid-range jumper put the Mountaineers up by eight points prior to the first media time out of the second half.
